HOW PARENTS CAN HELP
AT HOME
1. Show an interest in the music study of your child.
2. Arrange a regular time for your child to practice.
3. Find a quiet place where your child can practice without interruption.
4. Help your child keep a daily practice schedule.
5. Give your child a safe place in which to keep the instrument.
6. Keep the instrument in good repair with reeds, etc., in the case.
7. Be very careful of school-owned instruments. The cost of repairs can be very high.
8. Teach your child to be on time for rehearsals and lessons.
9. Make faithful attendance at all activities important.
10. Encourage your child to play for others when opportunities arise, in the home, at school, church and in the community.
AT SCHOOL
1. Notify the teacher if your child is to be absent or tardy for lessons, rehearsals, etc., and explain why.
2. See that your child takes the instrument and the music when needed at school.
3. Teach your child to be punctual at lessons and rehearsals, etc.
4. See that your child keeps up with classroom studies and makes up missed work.
5. Visit rehearsals occasionally.
6. Discuss with teacher anything that will help in understanding your child.
7. Attend concerts and other performances whenever possible.
8. Attend band parent meetings.
9. Help with parent activities.
